Internet Movie Database entry.

Not much is known about this movie except that his character is named Norvid.

It was a made-for-tv movie version of the classic hypnotist story. (Or so I gather from the title) It was made in 1983 and starred Jodie Foster and Peter O'Toole.  I've had some difficulty finding a copy since it's been discontinued and is a rare film.
